Tuchel was asked about the contract situation of N’Golo Kante and Jorginho in a press conference ahead of the game against Southampton, comparing it to the Rudiger and Christensen situation. The German responded by saying, he expects those involved to sort out the player’s contract before it expires.
Nobody wants that, absolutely. With important players, it’s a wish as a coach that we solve this in the summer anyway. That it’s clear where the journey is, what the decision is. Otherwise, we have the same talks about Toni and Andreas, we just swap the names, and we talk about it through winter. Then comes January, the agents talk with clubs and the brother to the other, it would be nice if we can avoid it. But at the moment, it’s a bit difficult. Yes, this should be the target for all of us.
The Blues are currently facing the same issue as it concerns the future of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger who might be leaving the Bridge at the end of this season. Chelsea can not discuss any contract situation following the restrictions that is placed on them by the UK government.
Chelsea fans will hope the future of both defensive midfielders sorted on time to avoid the same situation with their defenders.
