The Super Falcons of Nigeria are halfway through booking their spot at the Women’s African Cup of Nations.

The Falcons beat Cote d’Ivoire 2-0 at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Friday, February 18th, 2022. The first goal of the game was scored in the 21st minute by Esther Okoronkwo who connected to a pass from Ifeoma Onumonu to give the host nation the lead.
Esther doubled the lead on the 56th minute as she got the ball past the Ivorian goalkeeper to make the scoreline 2-0. The major omission from the game was Assisat Oshoala who suffered a hamstring injury during training.
The second leg of the game will be played on Wednesday, February 23rd, 2022 in Abidjan. The Falcons just need to avoid defeat in the second leg to qualify for their 12th Nations Cup.
