The Manchester United player came into the game tied on the same number of goals as Iran’s Ali Daei. Both men were on 109 goals and a goal from Ronaldo will make him the outright highest goal scorer in the world.
It did not seem to be going in the favour of the forward man when he missed a penalty in the first ten minutes of the game. He did not let that distract him and he ensured he wrote his name in the history book.
I am happy, not only because I beat the record, but especially for the special moment that we had in the game, two goals at the end of the game. It was so tough, but I had to appreciate what the team did. We believed until the end, with the supporters, I’m so glad.
He was also asked about how he could deal with missing a penalty earlier in the game; He said he was focused and believed that he was going to get something at the end of the game.
It is part of the game and part of the business. Sometimes you score, sometimes you miss penalties, it’s part of the business. But i still believed till the end of the game, so I’m so glad to score and winning the game.
