The Daily Mail confirmed on its website that the Belgian has agreed to return to Inter Milan on a loan deal along with a pay cut. Lukaku has struggled to find his feet since he joined Chelsea last summer transfer window despite finishing as the club’s highest goal scorer in the just-concluded season with 15 goals of which eight were scored in the Premier League.

Lukaku has been in the bad books of Chelsea fans since the interview he had with Sky Sports Italy in October 2021, stating that he wanted to return to the Serie A club.

The 29-year-old would earn £6.4m-a-year in wages, lower than the £10.2m plus £2.5m in add-ons he earns with Chelsea – a definite drop of £3.8m.
