The club sacked Solskjaer following the recent run of results in the league and the Champions League. The 4-1 defeat to Watford at Vicarage Road triggered the decision to sack the Norwegian. United have won just one game in their last seven Premier League games.
The board has announced that Michael Carrick will act as an interim manager pending when a new coach will be appointed at the club. Carrick took charge of his first game as a United manager in the 2-0 victory over Villareal in the UEFA Champions League.
