The Serie A side accepted the final bid of €40 million for the Senegalese. According to transfer news expert, Fabrizio Romano, the deal is in its final stages as Napoli are going through the documents.
The Senegalese captain is expected to be the first center back that will be signed under Todd Boehly’s Era. He will sign a long-term deal with the Premier League club and he is expected to earn €10 million net salary per season.
The 31-year-old has a year left on his contract and might not be considering a new deal with Napoli, which makes him a free agent next season. He was a key part lf the Serie A club last season and he helped them finish in the third position behind champions AC Milan and second-placed team Inter Milan.
The Blues are looking to bring in at least two defenders going into the new season following the departure of Rudiger, and Andreas Christensen.
