Premier League : Liverpool vs Leicester City match ended in a victory for Liverpool as Luis Diaz debuted in the league and Diogo Jota scored a brace.
Diogo Jota scored twice in the Premier League fixture, Liverpool vs Leicester City, to ensure that Jurgen Klopp‘s men kept their title ambitions alive in the premier league by closing the gap on Manchester City.
Liverpool welcomed the presence of Luis Diaz for the first time in the league, and he was applauded for a stellar performance when he was substituted in the final minutes of the game.
Liverpool compounded Leicester City woes and extended their poor run of form without top striker Jamie Vardy.
Mohammed Salah had not featured till late in the second half of this tie after returning from the AFCON 2021 competition. Luis Diaz was trusted by Klopp, to which he met all expectations and blended well with the attack that terrorized the Leicester defence. Dias had the opportunity to get his first goal in English football till his attempt was saved by the Foxes number one in goal, Kasper Schmeichel.
Kasper had made key saves to keep his side in the game till they fell to the second goal from Liverpool and a brace for Jota to score his 16th and 17th goal this season.
Liverpool is just 9 points behind Premier League table-toppers, Manchester City with a game in hand. From all indications, Liverpool has not given up in the title pursuit and would be looking to steal the league this time around.
