Zouma was filmed in a video which was released on social media by his brother kicking and maltreating his cat earlier in February 2022. The French man has received a lot of backlash from some football fans around the world following the incident asking that his contract should be terminated by the Hammers.
The defender is being charged by the RSPCA under the Animal Welfare Act. He joined West Ham in the summer transfer window of 2021 for £29.8 million. The London club fined him £250,000, while his boot sponsor Addidas terminated their contract with the player.
He could face five years imprisonment if he is found guilty, under the English Law for animal assault. Zouma has not featured for the Hammers in a while and might not feature for the rest of the season.
