Following the death of the world-famous rapper, DMX, Nigerian rappers have taken to their social feeds to express their shock and sadness concerning his passing away.
On the 9th of April 2021, social media was sent into a gloomy mood as reports of the passing away of Earl Simmons popularly known as DMX surfaced online. DMX was rushed to hospital in grave condition last Friday after suffering a heart attack at his home. The rapper passed away at White Plains Hospital on the 9th of April 2021. The hospital released a press statement saying;
“White Plains Hospital extends its deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Simmons, as well as his friends and legions of fans who expressed their unwavering support during this difficult time. Earl Simmons passed away peacefully with family present after suffering a catastrophic cardiac arrest.”
Global music stars and public figures have penned down their condolences across different social platforms and our Nigerian rappers weren’t left out. The likes of MI, Vector, Show Dem Camp and Eva Alordiah have taken to their social media pages to pay tribute to the rap icon.
Self-acclaimed African rapper number 1, MI took to his twitter account to pay tribute to DMX. MI revealed he had plans to meet the late rapper. He tweeted;
“The greatest rapper to me.. the reason I started rapping has passed on..
I promised myself I would meet you one day.. now I know my bucket list will never be completed.
Rest in peace Earl. The world was not fair to you but you did your best!
I love you forever ♥️???”
