Nigerian sensational rapper, singer, and songwriter, Akanbi Bamidele Brett, popularly known as Cheque, has expressed his displeasure at not being nominated for the 2022 Headies Award.

The 15th Headies Awards show, which celebrates the Nigerian music scene and is scheduled to take place on Sunday 4th September 2022 at the COBB Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta, USA, rolled out its nomination list yesterday, May 25th 2022.

The Penthauze singnee, who is known for his melodious hip-hop songs, was overlooked in the hip-hop category and the artist did not hesistate to call out the organisers. Although the rapper’s hip-hop tune ‘Zoom’ does not qualify for the 15th Headies Award, his debut album ‘Bravo’ qualifies to be nominated.

Taking to his Twitter page to express himself, he wrote:

Another year and the HEAdIES fails to recognize my music in the Rap category, while melodic rappers like Durk and Roddy are idolized in the rap scene worldwide That’s why HiPhop has remained Stagnant HERE but It’s Calm I will still be dropping HiTs even if I don’t get my Flowers
