Beninese veteran singer, songwriter, and performer Angélique Kidjo is getting the required attention in the Nigerian music scene after her win at the 64th Grammy Awards.
The 61-year-old yesterday, on April 3, 2021, won a Grammy at the 64th Grammy Awards for Best Global Music Album, beating Nigerian stars Wizkid, Femi Anikulapo Kuti and others who were nominated in that category for the prize.

Angelique Kidjo’s “Mother Nature,” which won the Best Global Music Album category and features Nigerian stars Yemi Alade, Burna Boy, and Mr. Eazi, has experienced a boost as regards Nigerian listeners.
The album shockingly debuted at fifth position on Apple Music’s top 100 album chart in the space of twenty-four hours after the Grammy win.
The album also maintained its position as one of the top albums in Nigeria on the streaming platform audiomack.
Also, Angelique Kidjo’s “Mother Nature” album is currently one of the most streamed albums on Deezer’s Nigerian album chart.
