Reekado Banks ft. Tiwa Savage – Turn It Up (Prod. Don Jazzy)

“Another MAVIN activated!!

Just a week after the Valentine day announcement of Di’Ja, the Boss of Mavin Records; Don
Jazzy, who has for months, kept his ears close to the ground and his eyes opened in search for quality talents to upgrade the music industry to what he calls 2.0., unleashes yet another MAVIN to the family.

He is called “REEKADO BANKS” and he is everything you can ask for. Born Solomon Ayoleyi Hanniel, Reekado Banks is a gifted singer and song writer. The final year History and Strategic student of the university of Lagos, Akoka is young, God fearing, fun and spontaneous. Best described as a fine combination of talent, Determination and swag, REEKADO BANKS is set to make history.

His first official single under Mavin; “Turn It Up” which features mavin’s first lady “TIWA SAVAGE” is a melodious entreaty that screams get up and dance. Definitely a party anthem that is sure to make it to the top of DJs’ playlists.

Imagine blending country, dancehall and afropop music in a Don Jazzy way. “Turn It Up” is just a
snippet of Reekado Banks abilities. As a valuable addition to the incredible team of Don Jazzy, D’Prince, Tiwa Savage, Dr Sid, Reekado Banks joins new label mate Di ja to further strengthen the new frontline of the Mavin 2.0.”

  1. 1st Time I will ever comment on this website!

Okay!! the beginning really got my attention then it fades away, is it me or this sounds very typical? A wizkid influence? But a lil birdie tells me this guy might be capable of more but this is weak.

Tiwa on it was to get attention i guess? that different worked. It got my attention.

Mohit when they cam the went in all the way, Mavin???

Goodluck and God bless your hustle

  2. Just there!! Reekado has brought nothing special to the industry. There is a lot of room for improvement though. Don Jazzy did not impress much as well. Don Jazzy himself needs to do a lot upgrade with his production skills. He needs to stop living on past glory. He has a lot of competitors now…not the best anymore.

  3. this song for make better sense if not for over repeating lyrics, the boy dey chop songs and Tiwa was on point as usual, the beat was bass. i go still watch for this boy…

  4. Wizkid dominated/rejuvenated Nigerian music so much…Upcoming artistes sounds like wizkid & they don't even know or maybe they even take it as a compliment for sounding like wizkid..smh!

  5. Love the blend..kinda sounds like a dancehall thingy.. but like @Osheathinz said too.. repetition of lyrics…Beat was ok but not new or Hot.. The likes osf Maleek berry, Sarz and legendary beatz are bring out dope beats.. So Uncle Don Jazzy should upgrade..

  6. As a big fan of Dbanj…unfortunately no much love for DonJAZZ..
But Don Is A SICK BEAT BEAST! Respect!

Boy sounds so much like Wizkid! He needs to find his own sound!!

    Song is tight!

  7. Its not all about the usual kpangolo afrobeat that we hear everywhere these days. This is a classic tune that is mellowed, simple and infused with a dancehall vibe. Nigerians should learn to appreciate other genres of music like this. Afrobeat of recent sounds too much alike. So this tune is a unique one, like it or not. Its different from the rest. I'm not Nigerian, but i follow naija music like crazy. Just saying

  8. wizkid is a great artist but sorry to say the way he sings is universal in a way so its not that people are trying to be like him.. Reekado Keep going! The Spirit hit me on dis one!!!

  9. nice attempt..tho i think he was trying to sound like oritsha femi and wizkid at the same time…noting really WOW!!!! about the song..don jazzy tried to put him on a safe mode sound that is most likely to sound good to our ears…the beat is also not new (a regular jamaican beat)….i will alwayz respect don jazzy for oliver twist and gbona feli feli beat…those r creative beats…

  10. what if he isnt trying to be like anyone? what if thats how he sounds…Voice and style is not like fingerprints…often times you hear something similar….the most sound alike is GENTLE and he effin sounds, sings like TUFACE..but I dont hear anyone complaining….

  11. smh this might be late, but guys this guy is good, like this is my top one music now,,,,, oya amke we goo….. oh baba good we all are on our kneesss…chai chaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii..,

  12. Ayo this a great Jam bro. heard this on radio thought it was wizkid song…WOW!!!! God has blessed your hustle. Spicy Turns ReekadoBankz good Re-Branding.. See you at the Top bro….JUMANJEE
