Set up in 2005, no other record label in Nigeria has been able to establish itself or expand fully into the entertainment scene like Chocolate City Music. In fact, the record label has unlocked a godfather status as they have given rise to three generations of hip-hop artistes that have given the nations hits upon hits. Yet despite the record label’s strong roots in the Nigerian music scene, details on the members and artistes of the company are not common knowledge. Non-recording artistes of Chocolate City Music
1. Audu Maikori
He is a lawyer and a music executive who co-founded the record label in 2005 and won the British Council’s award for the International Young Music Entrepreneur of the Year in 2007 due to the visionary work he was doing with the Chocolate City brand. It was Audu who named the company in 1997 before it even became a registered business. After leading the affairs of the company for 10 years, Audu stepped down for M.I Abaga to take over as CEO.
2. Paul Okeugo
Paul and Audu Maikori met at the University of Jos and built the idea that became Chocolate City which was first registered in 2003 as a club in Jos. Paul is the co-founder and was one time the vice president of the country as well as the chief operating officer of Chocolate City Group.

3. Ibukun “Aibee” Abidoye Esq
On the 8th of March which is International Women’s Day, Notjustok listed Ibukun Abidoye as one of the women putting in hours in the executive arm of the Nigerian music to make it the global sensation it is today. This inclusion was not a gender-based alone but one that stemmed from the fact that the New York trained attorney skilled in intellectual property, music and copyright law, first served Chocolate City for 8 years in the capacity of general manager before being promoted to the position of vice president in 2019.
4. Abuchi Peter Ugwu
On the 21st of April, Trybe of Judah, the Twitter fanpage of one-time president of Chocolate City, M.I, put out a tweet congratulating Abuchi Peter Ugwu on being appointed as CEO of Chocolate City.

Recording Artistes of Chocolate City
1. Blaqbonez
A rapper and an entertainer, Blaqbonez has many aliases such as Mr Boombastic and Emeka the Stallion, an alter ego that has birthed his chart-topping Sex Over Love album. The rapper is currently signed to 100 Crowns, an imprint Chocolate City Music.
2. Candy Bleakz
Signed to the label in April 2020, Candy Bleakz is an indigenous female rapper and street hop singer who makes music in predominantly Yoruba language. Known as Queen of the Streets, the rapper has since released street hop singles such as Won La, and Kope after her signing.
3. M.I Abaga
M.I Abaga or Mr Incredible made and continues to make a killing in the Nigerian rap scene ever since he was signed to Chocolate City in 2018. Later on in 2015, he replaced Audu Maikori s the CEO of the record label and vacated the seat four years later.
MI’s appearance on the list might appear contradictory as the rapper announced in 2020 that he was leaving the record label for one of his, Incredible Music. However, MI remains with Chocolate City and the rapper’s record label will be serviced by his older record label.
