DOWNLOAD: M.I Abaga – Illegal Music 2 (The Mixtape)

The wait is over! Illegal Music 2 is finally here… finally!

I know we all use the phrase “the most anticipated” quite loosely, but in this case, that cliche line is absolutely spot-on. Music fans have been expecting the release of M.I’s mixtape since last year, but for one reason or the other, it never dropped… till now.

#IM2 is an 18-track compilation of semi-original songs (hence the name “illegal”). Featured acts include X.O Senavoe, Phenom, Yemi Alade, Efa, 5Mics, SDC, Pope, Shaydee, Ruby, Boogey, Hench, Yung6ix, Loose Kaynon, Ice Prince, Pryse, Maytronomy, Funbi, Makiller and South African superstar HHP. From the list, you can tell that M.I is using this mixtape to “put on” several talented up & coming acts, and they all brought their A game.

It’s always a tough ask to follow up a #Classic body of work with another one, so hats off to Mr Abaga for putting out a solid mixtape. Feel free to download the whole mixtape as a zipped folder (if you’re using a computer) or download the individual tracks if your internet is slow (or you’re using a mobile device). Spread the word!

Production credits go to Jude Abaga, Kid Konnect and Studio Magic.

  3. Having listened to the mixtape, here are a few facts:
    (1) M.I is the best thing that ever happened to Nigeria's RAP music
    (2) Choc boys would always be relevant
    (3) This is the best mixtape anyone has ever put together in Africa
    (4) KidKonnect is a monster as far as music production is concerned

  4. Pls real heads listen to Heart of the city…MI was onpoint but SDC is the future…Ghost 2b precise…str8 fiyah.kepping d flow real

  5. Always been his fan. And will always be. He is simply the best thing that happened to Naija Hip hop. I said here once that he single handedly gave face to Naija hip hop (no direspect to Rugged man and Mode nine) before all these guys came in.

dude just scored an A with this, plus 5 additional marks for handwriting
    and spelling. #wow

    Worth the wait…..
    Id have paid for this……..
No one can knock ur hustle, God sef no go gree…..

    • Michael Ireroa Yes Rick Ross…Rap is delivery, success and quality production. The days of lyrics are long gone, Eminem would not be who he is with good lyrics on bad beats. So yes Ross. Perfect package! Jay-Z is the world lyricist out of Nas Pac biggie and Em but is still number one in the game. So what is your argument based on?

    • Are you kidding? Rick Ross never has any message whatsoever… basically like the majority of mainstream rap today (See: Lil Wayne, Soulja Boy). All he talks about are cars and money and drugs which are all stereotypical things rappers have said before. He bring no new flow to the table, and has no diversity whatsoever! (PS: You know he stole his identity from a drug cartel which makes him very fake). Not to add that his flow is just plain lazy and weak.
I agree, however, that production is piece of the puzzle, but to just toss out lyricism? I beg to differ… and so do majority of people that would agree that someone like J. Cole or Kanye West is better than Rick Ross. (The beats that they produce themselves, btw, tend to be much better than Mr. Rozay's.)

    • Sorry dude….Rick Ross works…whatever it is my guy…..swag flow crappy lyrics mainstream downstream no one cares cause it works….i personally prefer J.cole to Jigga but that is me personally, but hey I really can't stand Jay-Z…lmao. I feel power when I hear Ross not the word "Ross" his music so whether he rapped about cars or canned baby food or stole his name from a Nigerian area boy it sounds toooo fresh!!!!

    • Haha! That's your argument? It just works? Crappy lyricism and no real topics work? That's why music is so bad these days because many people are willing to accept downgraded standards. I actually prefer to dig through all the garbage in popular music today to find the real gold. It's still there if you want to find it.

  18. Finally I am able to log on to notjustok, instinct says I.M.2 crashed it.. Gud mixtape bro. I recommend….
Track 10: F*** you, Did he diss reminisce?? seems like a subliminal or just wordplay?..not trying to start nothing just wondering. On a side note, I see all the previous M.I trash talkers switching sides now. #Fickleness….

  19. Wow. This mix-tape is legendary. Classic! I would be positive and say that M.I has redeemed his street cred. He could have given us his middle finger and chased the cash only and not given a f*** about we hip-hop heads. M.I, wa gbayi!

  20. gosssssshhhhhhh!!!!

    M.I is sick!!!

    Dope Shit Mhen!!

He makes a lot of noise but his actions always proves him right.

    Big Ups Man, 99999ccccceeeee work!

  21. MI FT YUNG6IX SEE WORD,metaphor war) KNOCK WHO IS THERE SOYINKA I GOT THE KINDA SWAG WALE SHOW -YINKA THIS GUY IS SICK. IF HIP HOP IS DEAD I MUST BE RAPPING FROM CEMETERY, THE BOY IS REALLY KING OF THE SOUTH,

  22. Nigerians una like 2 dey fool una sef 2much……if something no bam …make una talk true,Illegal music 1 is way better than 2….same old M.I production …..the lyrics aint bad but the mixtape is kinda boring

  23. M.I featured people mostly, is he getting lazy? The mix tape is dope but hope his next album won't be full of features, I want your dope lyrics through out the tracks. 4or5 feat is ok but not 15…. Just saying#myopinion

    • THIS IS A MIXTAPE… and he didnt sell it…. DUDE … all your comments should be a good one!!!… i dont care… MI IS D BOMB,… every other rapper would have sold.

  24. I just had to do that cos the dude is blazing:

He brought it before May; guaranteed to withstand any Weather….
Be envious if you May; dude is bound to pile up plenty 'D'….
Keep hating if you May; all tracks warrant a guaranteed play-Back….

Rightfully called M.I. Me against I….
    No one contest

  25. I think you should go back and listen to all tracks again…..
You dont have to get it the first time round….

  26. This #IM2 mixtape is HARDCORE RAP … He features lots of unknowns and up and comings and they seriously delivered … Some NIGERIANS need to go back to listening to 1990s SOUNDS from the WEST and leave OTHERS who appreciate home grown talents to enjoy ART produced LOCALLY …

  27. he didnt diss reminisce he said
if u want to diss me take a second to reminisce
its an english word that means sumtin lyk think twice

  28. I work for a hiphop website in Chicago and one of my friends there introduced me to Ice-Prince's verse on ''Fuck You'' and I fell in love with this. Nigerian music is going somewhere definitely even though I couldn't understand some African words there. I uploaded the hottest tracks on this mixtape to our Youtube channel. search for any of them and our vids will appear or just simply search for ShyTownLeakers and there u have it. Thanks!

  29. suya pepper, ko ta lenu……..lik d boom bah, or d fresh prince back in d days, rollin in d 90s was d dopest.

  30. suya pepper, ko ta lenu……..lik d boom bah, or d fresh prince back in d days, rollin in d 90s was d dopest.

  31. I can sense some haterz creeping on M.I's Illegal music 2 mixtape. Am sure ya haterz are doing this out of envies and curiosity. The mixtape is the best so far as Hip-Hop is concerned in Nigeria abi u think say na BEANS ? Put it down in ur belly… Lol.. My middle finger goes to y'all who never appreciates gud music for once… Fuck ya …. M.i rocks till infinity….. 1 Love choc boi representer… Bla!

  32. My Observation

    1) M.I Featured alot of rappers out of inferiority complex just so that the world can compare between Him (M.I) & The Other Rappers On the Track with Loose Kaynon……. Loose Killed it On the Track with Phenom Phenom Killed it on the Track with X.O %50 / %50.

2)Nice work Nice Effort but lets be Honest this Mixtape does not sound like a Mixtape it sounds more like a freestyle Battle i know alot of you deep inside your heart know that i'm telling the truth but because your scared of what people or the number of dislikes you would receive you follow the crowd & compliment this Mixtape…… I beg you all to please listen to Richforever Mixtape (Rick Ross) Big 10 Mixtape (50 Cent) Da Tip off MixTape (MeekMills) to understand what a Mixtape is

Thumbs up to M.I for the flows, punchline most especially in Track 10 and above all giving the young rappers an opportunity to compete with him i just hope that the next Mixtape would sound alot better @least have some tracks that can be performed

    • Good effort but the feat is too much…Kai we need you to get on other ppls instrumental and kill it not feat pple on the whole record. But nice one, most pple dont understand what a Mixtape is.

  33. M.I you are a true legend even when all hope is lost! True FAN from Morenci, AZ. Kudos to all other artist on this hit " Hotter than Arizona SUN".
