World Premiere: Skales – Mukulu + Keresimesi

It’s been a long time coming, but the wait is finally over! Here are two new official singles from Empire Mates Entertainment rapper Skales titled “Mukulu” and “Keresimesi“.

For the past 2 years or so, we’ve kept our eyes firmly on Skales, wondering when he’ll step out of the shadows of the other successful EME artists, Banky W and Wizkid, and make a name for himself as a stand-alone act. We knew it was only a matter of time and these two new songs show why most people have longed for his formal entrance to the big stage. Skales is sick… PERIOD!

Mukulu” is a very sweet commercial song which should easily find its way to the clubs, radio and most individual playlists before the end of this year. The repeat value is skyhigh. “Keresimesi” is a mad Christmas tune! Skales veers from the typical style of making xmas songs and takes us straight to the dancefloor while delivering mad bars. I’ll let y’all do the rest of the talking below. Feel free to download both songs and share with your friends/family. #ThankMeLater.

*O.O*

Both Songs Produced By SARZ – With time, he’ll be seen as the very best in the country. Mark my words.

  1. EME Boyz are taking over Naija ohh and the best part is that they cover every angle of Naija music
Banky is arguably one of the best(yes best, I can put my name on it)RnB artistes in Naija
Wizkid is Currently the hottest for Afro Pop/Afrobeats artiste in Naija
Skales Don dey come now, and I can say He holds high position as far as the Naija Rap scene is concerned and he is young so he has a lot of time to even become the best in Naija
    MAD TUNES!
    Big ups Skales

  2. SARZ .>>>Period !!! Skales Delivery is on point ..But lyrically he's still on the regular .. He's missing that spark !

  3. Sooooo Much Hypeee Dope beat big up Sarz// Dope Hook big up Skales// massive Hype Big up EME // buh very very weak verses somethin still missing … With that Clarence Peter Video and EME promo shit can heat up

  4. keresimesi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!……………..Tune!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Mukulu was good, but the wiz influence was too much though, but i gotta say this again…….keresimesi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. You were quite on point when you analyzed banky and maybe wizkid…but saying skales is high in the rap scene u fumble big time…

  6. to b honest i love this 2 tune, but i find something lacking….. does anyone realize he and wizkid got almost the same style when it comes to singing….. the mukulu track just proved that, but i think he's goood and way better, but should stick to Rapper, thats his calling…. Thumbs Ups Skales….. Good Job Sarz!

  7. I thought Skales was a rapper. oh well. another one bites the dust, in line with Dr.Sid, I guess the paper chase is what it is now.

  8. omo dat keresimesi is fcking banging shai…..keresimesi keresimesi yoall …but dat mukulu is aiit but is kinda wizkid influced joor, but its not bad to have it on ur album u r still on point

  9. NICE ONE SKALES ………. Proud of You Hommie

If you listen to Skale's BE MINE or that song he sang at WizKid's Album launch. You will sense how good and versatile this dude can be. These songs are good but as usual its commercial which to me is one great thing that is killing This Naija music. If you have a Nigerian artiste you managing presently , you should understand what am trying to say. Artistes now have this big problem of drifting from their various powerhouse style to trying as much to do commercial cos everyone now believes commercial songs receives more airplay on radios, gets more audience and sell more concerts. I think thats the notion in Nigeria anyways. Alot of Nigerian artistes cant sing the commercial thing and still hold their ground in delivering what we can refer to as great tune that meets up the standard which we put them on. Skales is a good rapper and yes he has got that madt voice that delivers a great hook but not on high pitches, tempo or whatever its called. Again, I say listen to ''Be Mine and that other Song'' and tell me if you cant feel the difference. If he had employed services of a singer on the MUKULU track while he does the rap I think it would have been cool. I feel his style is just like that of M.I they got great voice for their rap and hooks but once the hook is meant to be danceable (fast) then they cant keep up unlike Iceprince,Jargo , Olamide , Dagrin (RIP) and co, its just like telling a Mode9 to do such. However, I cant take anything away from his rap delivery even though those lines seem to be a little overshadowed by his singing cos there seem to be little or no difference. As a rapper, I think its best when you employ someone to sing your chorus/hook when you trying to make commercial tracks so your RAP style can be much more expressed just like it was done on the KERESIMESI.

  10. Who is to blame ?
The Artiste that feels its necessary/a must, to do a commercial song or the industry head that made them feel it is so (Cos they are all about making the cash) by their act of pushing commercial songs more and giving it more airplay on their radios cos they feel Nigerians are all about clubbing and dancing ? Its only in Nigeria that you will tune up your radio while in the traffic in the hot sun and all you will still hear is a noisy club banger called commercial songs instead of a cool sound that can ease/cool off the stress one is going through. I wont really blame the Artistes especially the upcomers that really need to earn their place cos if they dont try the commercial songs they might not get the deserved airplay ( difference btw OMOWUNMI and TIMI DAKOLO *Omowunmi added a bit of commercial while Timmy stuck to his genre, who is more celebrated today? AXE YA MOMMY* lol ) and this is really forcing even great upcoming talents to look into singing crap sometimes as long as the beat is danceable.Like the MUKULU song, it will be jammed by radios cos EME got the promo stunt and heavy cheddah to spend ,and obviously these will encourge Skales to do more of this below par song since its well played on radio. NOTE: The more airplay given to it the more tendency of the song growing on people, the more it grows on people, the more people love it the more they talk about it, the more they talk about it the more they request for it on radios and in clubs, the more request it gets from there the more audience skales get, the more audience he gets the more Shows he play, the more the shows he play at the more cash made. (THAT TELLS IT ALL). Hence, the more he gets cash from such commercial single, the little he remember that he has something in him better than the commercial thing. Dont get me wrong, Commercial songs are good songs too but should we neglect importance and greatness in other kinda songs that inspires us even more positively than these commercials ? Its only in Nigeria that we have a Timi Dakolo struggling , a Bez trying to fight it out in the industry, an ASA thats well accepted abroad than amongst Nigerians (Yes we know her but do you buy her CDs, no you dont cos you all about club and dance). All am saying is, Nigeria Music Heads needs to encourage Artistes to make not just commercial songs cos not everyone can make good commercial songs but chosing the wack commercial songs over great cool melody will definitely force alot of talents to think commercial. Hence, the lack of creativity showcased these days and the murder of the ART in music is gradually taking place. ASK YOURSELF AS AN MUSIC LISTENER, why you listen to ADELE alot but not an ASA,TIMI DAKOLO,BEZ,WAJE etc . In yankee , there are commercial Artistes but go check the billboard countdowns and record/concert sales and see if the commercial music does better than the conscious ones. In Nigeria , a Dbanj is well celebrated than a SoundSultan . No disrespect to the KOKO master.. All am saying is just that this our craze for commercial music is just a face that will soon pass, infact soonest and we will get tired of it but what happens afterwards ? The Nigerian Audience will switch back to foreign music when they need inspirational ones. Just like some are already doing by listening to an ADELE when we have our own Timi, Bez etc. Thank God for 2baba, ASA, 9ice,Dare, Banky, Eldee,SoundSultan,Wande,Omowunmi, Tiwa Savage and co that knows how to do the twist and turn btw commercial and inspiring music. Chidinma of Project Fame is already fighting a battle of singing a commercial song which is not her thing.. ''JANKOLIKO LI KOKO'' , if care is not taking the gal wont meet up. Ask Iyanya and Praiz how difficult it has become to dazzle the Nigerian crowd with great music. Blame our Music Heads , Yes blame them for forcing commercials on the public by constant airplay of Jellof and Akpako music. God bless us. Once again, I aint an artiste or an entertainer but I dey buy una music so please help make my 150naira useful .

That said, I am waiting for SKALES to release that song he sang at WIZKID'S ALBUM launch '' BABY MALO GBON, MA LO BINU ''

  11. Skales is versatile..he could easily flow with singing and rapping aswell…and SARZ is the real beast,,.he's beat never disapoints..Great effort from Skales

  12. MrBitternessIsPoisonTruth we know u aint just ok
    ps

Its takes two steps to create a blog, so stop rambling here

  13. How many rappers in naija are as versatile as SKALES? He can go hardcore, do songs for the ladies, go commercial and still stand out in all three…. Naija stand up! a new king is born

  14. For those that dont appreciate mukulu, I love the song cos i dont really like rap. Skales mukulu is on repeat in my car…I pray dey play it in d club tonyte! Lets go…omukulu

  15. @truth is bitter.

man you have it on point. music exes are not looking at the tide. soon folks might just switch to foreign music and it would be hard to win people back. why should EME a big company subject skales to singing some of this sub standard stuff all in the name of commercial or club banger. hic collabs should be enough to boost him. let us see the true him. some folks are nokia, some bb, some sony ericsson. Meaning different artist to the kind of listener. dont make him for all if he isnt.

  16. U̶̲̥̅̊ deff dnt knw skales. He'z not a commercial rapper. Listen to Thank God its christmas, musically engaged, monster. †ђǝ notjustok search button is your friend.

  17. Wanted to yab truthisbitter for d sermon, but he actually spoke d truth. Anyway, d tin is, we must sell. Datz d reason why Zdon paporella sang 'I don tire to make sense' back den, even tho I'm just

gettin d message of d song nw. But I can vouch for skales. He will have a complex album. He'z too dope to be d same on every song.

  18. truthisbitter (lie is sweeter lol), hw u dey? in as much as i agree with what u have posted, i still think there is still more unsaid…what u have painstaking stated here is only symptomatic of a larger maliase ravaging the entire nigeria project viz a viz its socio-culturo-econo-political wellbeing…
at an appriopriate forum i shall be glad to join u to further this issue…

having spent more 2-third of my growing up years in 9ja, i saw things first hand and was actively involved in the streets, and i can conveniently tell u that the average nigerian genuine musical acts has little blame here, he/she is only a victim of a skewed psyche of a largely disorientated populace who are impatient and hostile to music or art that doesnt come with high decibel of noise / kilojoules of energy.

something some people have attributed to the long years of deprivation and unnecessary hardship endured by most of our country people during thier impressionable years. this to a large extent methink, has unconsciously made many more receptive to aggression music than the soulful / non-club orientated ones.

e be like say i just dey speak unnecessary grammar here…
any way the long and short of the story is that our society is deficient in support and incentives and there is no alternative window of opportunity for its teeming mass of youths who have no business singing in the first place, hence the proliferation and prepronderance of akpako music…everywhere.

in economics they taught us demand and supply and sadly that is what is driving naija music ideology these days…just like our ever expanding capitalist world, market forces don take over
    obrigado…

but anyway skales good sha o, im go soon see im period very soon

  19. are u embittered/sad that u dont have the kind of analytical/knowledgable mind he posseses and even maybe a subcouncious fear that u cant even measure up to him intellectually… hence ur resort to diatribe. i know many nigerians are scared of thinking for themselves…they hate anything that would remind them of thier shortcomings/inadequacies…pity

  20. This Skales guy is underated. He's just too good….Donno y people don't have ears;how can u criticize that Mukulu track?Everything about the two songs is ok.

Sarz is a beast…he killed the songs!!!

  21. Love Keresimesi!!! It's a banger for sure!!!!!Lyrics, beats and everything on point. No autotune- just pure rhymes and talent. Great!!

But I am not feeling Mukulu at all. Skales seems so talented so I think Banky W should help him chart his own part in music. You could see how he totally killed the Keresimesi song just cos he wasn't trying to sound like anyone. He was just being his productive self.

EME should leave Wizkid's style and sounds for Wizkid. Shikenah!

  22. They can write song for anybody. So it doesn't matter if it was wizkid that wrote it.The point is Skales delivered the song very well…

  23. Well said. Sad thing is some so called voltrons won't c d truth and try to argue. Yes they should make our N1150 count.

  24. Dont see wat the fuss is about the mukulu song, sounds quite like an average track with a lot of over used lyrics. yet we still watch the evolution of the artiste called skales….

  25. WORD!!! u forgot to mention MODE NINE who spits insane lyrics, gud one at dat he sings real hiphop.u cnt blame dese artiste, blame it on the consumers who patronize clubs and d consumers enjoy listening to it.our own ADELE is ASA but her cds dnt sell in 9ja mean while ADELE is well listened to and celebrated in her country

  26. abeg take it all mr skales deres no song as hot as this 2 uv got rytnow…all ds niggas b sayin shiiiit….fools sum tiin dey will go and rock to now

  27. Nice 1 Skales. Just keep doing ur thing as d inspiration comes. If u stick to hardcore all dis critics won't buy na talk dem sabi talk. Do ur thing for d ladies man. If they like u then d bois no get choice. Bigup ma nigga!

  28. @TruthisBitter…Nice and Well Said Piece Bro,but In My Opinion…The Major factor Hindering a Talented artist in the Nigerian Music industry is **MONEY**..That's why You have the Talented Lots Like Orezi Struggling cos he doesn't have the right push and A relatively Mediocre Skales Making Headlines Cos He's Signed To Eme…See the problem is not Commercial Music cos if You ask me Commercial Music is Food for the Soul but that's if its done well..Peep the likes of Wande Coal who came out of nowhere and gripped our hearts with constant hits ,tunes, and vocal dexterity by keeping it utterly gutter and street enough for the lay man to understand and vibe to and at the same time Fresh enough to be enjoyed in the Suburbs..We have The Duncan Mighty's , The Flavours , Dbanjs,Wizkid who continue to deliver easy but heavy tunes …Timi Dakolo might be a fantastic Singer and vocalist but does he know how to put a very Good song together? He Reminds me of Lemar..But we are Africans and as an African artiste you just can't get away with being a 100% Western on a track..Same goes For Bez !!! Asa is fantastic on d other hand and very well patronized in Nigeria, her first album was a multi platinum success here in Nigeria because she was able to Blend her western influence and Fuse that Deep strong Voice with well delivered Home Bred Naija Lyrics which got her Mass Appeal,Songs like Eye Adaba,Bibanke,Jailer to name a few cut accross all boundaries in Nigeria,From Lagos To Kaduna to Ebonyi and all over Nigeria and Africa she was celebrated..For reasons best known to her She decided to Focus her Second Album Majorly in the Intl Market and thus it was appreciated but didn't do too Well here..As For the Likes of Iyanya,His brief Stint in the industry thus Far show. He doesn't know understand the Market and he's better in the Choir..or the Likes of Ovadose who Rap like they Doing Music to please themselves..Tiwa Savage is extremely Talented, but coming from America did she decide to plough our Eardrums with Yankee Lyrics ? No !!! She came with Kele Kele Love , Lovely Beat, catchy hook and yes Amazing Vocal Talent and now she's Followed that up With LoveMe..

At The end of the Day,The industry is in Shambles not because we Nigerians thrive on Commercial Music but Because The Record Labels push Artists who can't or don't know how to balance Commercial/Conscious Music !!! The Ones who Have Found Such Artistes will continue to Thrive and Make Allllll the Money And those who unfortunately haven't will continue to drag us down and hurt our feelings with below average Music…

  29. SKALES is killing me softly. ….the bother is just sick, and SARS…..crazy beat bra, just crazy…. "me i go chop till i belle chop chop it i belle full"…..the track repeat……

  30. @ TruthIsBitter . Next time get to the point with little words. This forum is blog-like not a News paper.
No write article cos nobody get time to read all those things.
Skales is sick and ori ya gbagbote.

  31. The songs are ok,but as usual overated.and I also think sarz is overated.there are better producers out there and don't get celebrated because notjustok does not recognize them wit the big boiz.all d same congrats skales, finally you have an official single.

  32. This guy is sick…first time i saw him in a performance in Ikeja in 2008….soundcity event…kid killed everything..He is talented. nice joints…keresimesi is better… from my own point of view.

  33. Both Tracks R Really Nice & They Grown On U..Love him or hate him. Skales is still gon do his thang! Shoutout to the EME Crew! #EMEzaaay For Life

  34. Same thing applies for NNEKA! Nobody listens to her but her songs are driving people crazy all over europe and America.

  35. @ Truthisbitter: well said! @ Jemil: valid statement! una points make brain wella! tiz d overwhelming influence f d big players in d industry dt steers d path d game tows…@ kel:kelechukwu clap 4 urself….wel don! *hiss*

  36. Men nigga if comment too long no read am now. Na by force. Na all d books wen dey ur school library u jack. see whahala o
