The Super Falcons of Nigeria and the defending champions of the Women’s Africa Cup Of Nations (WAFCON 2022) are officially out of the 2022 competition following a defeat in the hands of Morocco.
The Super Falcons of Nigeria’s title defense at the Women’s Africa Cup Of Nations (WAFCON 2022) has officially come to an end following a defeat in the hands of the host nation Morocco on penalties on Monday, July 18, 2022.
The team was reduced to 9 players following two red cards as HalimatuAyinde received a red card after a VAR decision was made and Rashidat Ajibade received her second yellow of the night.
The Super Falcons however were relentless as they fought the good fight as they pushed the game straight into penalties.
Although many felt as though the Super Falcons could have easily won the game if had played together as a team as it was noticed that most had played as individuals and not as a unit.
The Super Falcons of Nigeria however live to fight on another day as they secured a place in the FIFA Women’s World Cup which would kick-off on the 20th of July 2023.
This would give the team ample time to prepare and redevelop their style of play as women’s football has evolved over the course of the years, teams would be tougher and harder to beat as all boils down to winning one of the coveted titles in the history of Women’s football.
