The World Cup qualifying game between the Black Stars of Ghana and the Super Eagles of Nigeria was one of the most talked-about games.
The game between both teams was for a place at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup. The winner of the game over both legs will get the ticket as one of Africa’s representatives when the competition takes centre stage.
(1) Wilfred Ndidi:
The Leicester City midfielder was a major miss for the Super Eagles in the game against Ghana. It was easier for Black Stars to break through the midfield of the Super Eagles but they were not able to take their chances.
(2) Lack of Cohesion:
The Super Eagles’ attacking players failed to create chances in their attack as the players were not able to connect with themselves in their attack. This is an aspect coach Augustine Eguavoen must look out for in the second leg of the game on Tuesday.
(3) Moses Simon:
The Nigerian player’s lack of ability to finish off chances in football games showed against the Black Stars. Simon’s lack of decision making in the attack was a disadvantage for the Super Eagles, he also missed a clear chance on goal but he could not find the back of the net.
(4) Lack of Creativity:
The Super Eagles’ lacked creativity in the midfield which gave the Ghanaians room to operate and dominate most of the game’s possession. The Super Eagles technical team must fix that problem in the second leg if they want to progress to the World Cup in Qatar.
(5) World Cup Ticket
Both teams can not afford to slip when the second leg takes place in Abuja on Tuesday, March 29th, 2022. The technical crew of the Super Eagles and the Black Stars will look to bring their best performance which will reflect on the field of play. Any mistake from either of the teams will cost them a ticket to the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
