The Premier League confirmed the news on its official website on Sunday, December 26th, 2021. According to reports from Leeds camp, there is no positive case of the virus, but the players who tested positive earlier ahead of the game against Liverpool were in isolation.

Following a request from Leeds United, the Premier League board met today ( Sunday) and regrettably agreed to postpone the club’s home fixture against Aston Villa, due to be played at 5;30pm on Tuesday, December 28, 2021. The board was able to make its decision before the match to give clarity to the affected club and their fans. We apologise for the inconvenience and disruption caused to supporters’ festive plans.

The Premier League board has insisted that the league will not be suspended as most clubs are asking in order to give the players time to get themselves back, but the board has insisted that games will be played where it is only safe to play football games.
