Global music streaming platform Spotify has removed the buzzing ‘Ameno Amapiano Remix” from its platform over the possibility of licensing issues.

The song, owned by Nigerian hypeman Goya Menor and Ghanaian record producer Nektunez, samples “Ameno’ by French new-age musical project Era. As it is known, to sample any form of intellectual property, it is expected that the party that owns such property be contacted and the said sample be “cleared”.

The Amapiano remix, which has the Gregorian chant from the original song, has become a global tune, with TikTok playing a major role in the spread.

In an updated turn of events, the song has been removed from Spotify due to the possibility of a copyright/licensing issue.
