BET have released the nominations for the 2016 BET awards to be held at the Microsoft Center, Los Angeles. Drake dominated the nomination in the main categories with nine nominations while we had Wizkid and Yemi Alade leading the Nigerian party against the rest of Africa for the coveted and controversial BET Best International Act Africa category.

It would be noted that several african artists voiced their discontent at how the African category is being treated over the years with Wizkid, Yemi Alade and Fuse ODG voicing out on Social media last year.

Despite this, the duo of Wizkid and Yemi have been nominated again and it is unknown wether they will choose to accept the award (if they win) hours before the main show as per tradition or even show up for the pre shows.

A.K.A, Cassper Nyovest and Black Coffee lead the South african party while MzVee from Ghana, Diamond Platinumz of Tanzania and Serge Beynaud from Cote D’voire make up the list.

  1. FIREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE VIDEO AND SONG! Yemi Alade is on a different lane, ca see his babe breaking barriers for Africa soon too!

  2. wizkid bring it home, this year you already won african artist of the year in ghana lets bring the international one home.

  3. Once again, this demonstrates why American's opinions of African music doesn't mean sh!t. This is almost identical to last year's list. And guess what? Since they saw Wiz doing music with Drake since last year's show, I'll bet anything that his name is already on the award. SMDH. I hope he boycotts again.

  6. I concur, please let's support our own and if we are being honest, looking at the list who actually represents us Africans the most??? The honest answer is YEMI ALADE sentiment and favouritism aside, therefore I vote for her, but will also vote for Wizkid too.

Congratulations to Yemi Alade definitely representing…shout out to Wizkid too!!! surely voting for both of them! Nigerians if you like don’t vote for our own, by the time Tanzania pull together and add voting robots too for Diamond una go understand lol #SUPPORTOUROWN instead of hitting heads together and coming up with this Linda and Wizzy bullshit. VOTE YEMI ALADE AND WIZKID SIMPLE!!!

  7. After One Dance is at the top for weeks straight? Lmao Wizkid is getting this one but not because he has some great music out this year (Final is a banging song but it's not as hot as some of Wizkid's greatest tracks and I'm not even talking the recent OJUELEGBA) but yeah because he's gotten a lot of buzz recently and his name is trending so people will vote for the name they know and the ONE DANCE that gets them nodding their heads and shaking their body.

Yemi Alade stands no chance (my opinion). First I don't think she's a good artiste. Second, she doesn't have a lyrics; most of her songs are just made up of exclamatory expressions like "ye kpa!" bla bla bla. Jonny was her most composed track even though I never really liked it. After that she released a couple tracks tryna sound like JONNY and get that same buzz too but it didn't work (some folks fell for the scam tho). Last, I don't like her music…..I think we've listened to enough gibberish from Terry G in the past (we all vibed to his joint including me ? ) I mean we don't want all that no more. Terry G can't make money from such record anymore in this competitive times. So……..Yemi Alade can't win it.

Casper on the other hand is the next in line if Wizkid doesn't win it. Dude has good music and lyrics. His videos are nice too.

Aka? He's good but not for 2016.

The rest of the nominees I have no clue who they are and also some of them (Diamond ?) shouldn't be on there. Well I mean BET had to scoop folks from other countries in the continent to show love. Anyone understand WTF Diamond be saying? Lol language don't matter but we know dude is whack af (ok maybe not to his country people). No chance dude, better work next time. ✌?️

    • From what I heard, they will give it on stage in the main show this time around. Hope that's true though, but please lets support our own Yemi Alade & Wizkid before Tanzania carry robots plus the whole country vote for Diamond LOL

      • Hahahahaha, well hopefully they do things properly this time, they need Africa more than we need them!

  8. Last time uganda’s Eddie kenzo did it and took the award to Kampala,a the smallest country in Africa with the least population, those guys(ugandan’s) bees, wen they decide to do some thing they do it,and for us we are just taking sides on wizzy and yemi, these Eastafricans most especially Uganda have got good music than ours’they sing in there local languages and end up grabbing the awards,I believe the *uganda’s are going to help there tanzania neighbours to bring the award again to astrological africa, there is no rotting robots brothers weak up!#havicclick5@gmail.com
