Timi Dakolo reminds us of what good music should sound like with this beautiful classic in the making – ‘Wish Me Well‘, produced by non other than Cobhams Asuquo – the classic man and production genius.
“Nigeria’s king of soul; Timi Dakolo has announced the release of his second single ‘Wish Me Well’ off his forthcoming album; Love and Consequences.
Timi Dakolo draws inspiration for this single from his days as a young boy in Port Harcourt just before West African Idols, going through the harsh events of life. “I have had it bad, from days with no money to pay my school fees, having to survive by selling pure water, pushing wheelbarrows for money, it has been tough. I remember when Idols came calling, I knew this was my opportunity to make it, I picked my bags and moved to see what would happen. I was scared, but if I didn’t, I wonder where I would be.”
The song which has a melodious play of several instruments and strong vocal delivery was a result of another collaboration with iconic Cobhams Asuquo. Moving from the highlife tune of Iyawo Mi, this single ‘Wish Me Well’ has a more western feel.
Timi Dakolo said “When the desire to be great takes sleep away from your eyes and fear from your mind, you might not know how you will make it or get there. You pick up your bags and move with just your dreams, fears and worry, for the desire to achieve is greater than the fear of the unknown, all loved ones can do is wish you well”.
Enjoy!

Good music. Probably the very fist Timi song that's hooked me from the first listen.
It might be his it song – that song that finally catapults him to where his incredible voice and talent deserves.
As for Cobhams – "Irunmole on the console" © -……….I don't have the words to fully praise his awesomeness.

The song was a renewed inspiration
This is not your average song. This is pure classic. Timi and Cobhams combination was orchestrated by God and I pray that this combination continue for a very, very long time. This combination has given us the privilege to hear songs like: Is it over, Heaven Please, I love You, Let it shine, Love of my Life, There's a Cry, Cry for you, Great Nation, Iyawo mi, and now Wish me well.
I am looking forward to his new album. The first album "Beautiful Noise" was so good that you would not skip a single track. It is not about quantity but QUALITY.
God bless you Timi for sticking to what you believe and not allowing the society dictate your kind of music.
Selma should have waited for this to use as a sound track. Wow! Wow! Wow! Timi got me on my feet with a laudable applaud. Can imagine you doing this song at the grammys, you are gonna get people teared up and pumping their fist.

This is so so amazing. I just can't stop listening to it. Timi & Cobhams, thank you for this.
It's funny because as much as Nigerians on here love to criticize people's effort not one soul did on this song. Good to know y'll appreciate good music.#timidakolo#wishmewell.
Don't know how I missed this in the first place. Y'all know how I feel about Cobhams' work, I don't know… he has a way of catering to different people's very diverse vocal timbres…it's amazing really. Timi Dakolo was never EVER a fluke. This is definitely grammy-worthy. We just need to get 'the powers that be' to lend an ear to what we have to say. Who said Nigerians aren't talented?
That combo wud be so lovely
Cobams is a GHOST! Not from this planet ? or maybe something else, he's not human. All his music production comes up amazing. I heard this music on MTN Y'hello Countdown on @coolfm. It's above Nigerian, wow class that ???
This is what i call music not the trash most of our musicians are singing now. Timi, cobams. you the best. Keep up the good work and pace. Like you guyz.
seriosly many Nigeria musicians need to sit and listen to timi's song….they've got to know that songs ain't all about beat.
